How to become a Mine and Cave Leader within the UK

Taking groups of any age into mines and caves within the UK is a fast growing aspect of the outdoor industry wether its for education, fun or adventure.

In many areas of the UK, it is now a main stream activity that outdoor instructors gain freelance work and being a qualified cave or mine leader can prove a useful addition to you skill set.

I have put this workshop on to allow members to fully appreciate why such venues provide such a unique experience, what customers are being offered, what being a cave or mine leader is all about and how you go about gaining a NGB leadership award allowing you to work underground.

In addition, we will visit a classic venue used for groups and on this occasion the venue will be a Welsh slate mine.  We will not visit a cave but the scheme for cave and mine is the same apart from venue specific.  Even if you decide working underground is not for you, this day will at least given you the opportunity to have a great subterraiinin day out

The Britsh Caving Association ( BCA ) are the NGB that oversee the  Local Cave and Mine Leader Award within the UK. Thier award structure can prove  tricky to fully understand upon first view. However, by the end of this workshop this will all be clear.
