Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) 6 hours

Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) is designed for low-risk workplaces. It can also be used for staff required to be emergency first aiders or to support a designated first aider trained via the First Aid at Work course

It is one of the most popular courses that allows you to perform the duties of a first aider in the workplace.  This course covers all the requirements stipulated by the Health and Safety at Work Act (First Aid) Regulations 1981 to make any one a qualified emergency first aider, if your first aid risk assessment deems this a requirement for your company or organisation.

Alongside meeting these obligations, staff will also be equipped with the knowledge, skills and confidence to handle a wide range of emergency situations – from minor injuries to life-threatening conditions. Staff will be able to administer the right treatment swiftly and decisively during a crucial emergency moment where every second counts

This course is a relaxed and non-stressful learning environment.  I aim to make the course as practical as possible and thus, help you gain confidence in providing aid in a work or home environment.

What you learn on your EFAW

The course consists of theory and practical elements including:

  • Roles and responsibilities of a first aider
  • Assessing an emergency first aid situation
  • Administer CPR and  the use of an AED ( defibrators )
  • Administering emergency first aid to a choking and unconscious casualty
  • Dealing with shock, burns, scalds and bleeds.
  • Performing emergency first aid for minor injuries
  • Recording incidents and accidents
  • Prevention of cross infection
  • Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters)
